It is always wonderful to see the face behind the james kalm reports.

These are great...an under-appreciated corner of youtube. And damn, I would kill for Zinsser to come by my studio and talk about work for a couple hours.

What I like best abt Loren is that he simultaneously succeeds in talking about authorship within painting in a sense of "great artists steal" and succeeds in totally being original. I also foresee him as the end of painting.. A certain dislosure if you may!

Ronnie Was my next-door neighbor in Pelham Parkway My Mother loved his mom Hilda, and his dad saved my life I was 4 years old choking on a fishbone. Nate His dad, grabbed me and shoved rye bread down my throat, Years later I heard how prominent a painter Ronnie had become and his brother was a brilliant student and became a skilled physician. Here we are old men and I look back and feel thrilled for Ronnie and Barry and know that their parents are so proud of them both. Congratulations on a successful life. Ironically, one of my crazy memories of the Landfield brothers was one day my mother got Hilda to ask her sons if I could go to the movies with them. I did, and when we started walking down the street Barry said to me walk a block behind us. So dumb me stood there while they walked forward down Wallace Ave. Then Ronnie came back and said just a little block. 3 feet cut into the cement, not the entire block. Crazy that I remember little dumb things. But childhood is a fragile thing, Impressions are made and kept. Just like a great painting. Wishing you continued success, Jeff Schaffer
